Partnumber Error

Postby mhdriaz » Sun Dec 27, 2009 6:32 pm

Hello Friends,

Im using Retailman and found this very unusual problem. Some of the products i sell carry the below given codes. Unfortunately when scanned it recognizes only a part of it and prompts to enter the item again and will have the qty field filled with wrong numbers. I have came accross eight items. Its not a barcode reader issue as it reads properly to notepad and all.

The codes are
2000001768952
2010000765517
2010000765531 etc
These are fast moving items and the supplier say they give out to other retailers with the same code. Is this is a bug?

Regards
Riaz

Hi Riaz,

This is not a bug but a design feature to enable random weight barcodes that are printed by electronic scales which always start with 20,21,22,23 etc, so the supplier is using the same barcodes that are normally printed by scales. However, we can add an option to stop this from working which will fix your problem.

You can upgrade to the latest from www.ezisolution.com/rm_1_817.exe
If you choose to upgrade to this new version, we recommend you follow these steps:

1 - Exit all instances of RMan on all stations
2 - Do a full folder backup (just in case)
3 - Run the Setup program (if you have Vista or Windows7, right click on the setup icon and run as administrator)
4 - Once done, start only one instance of Rman and wait for it to finish upgrading your files
5 - Go in Rman and check all the past entries if all is OK, if you notice any odd behaviour, then we suggest you do the Files Reindexing from the Maintenance section and check again

To block the Random Weight barcodes, go to Maintenance > System Setup > POS and you will find a new option to disable this feature.

The disabling option will disable the Random Weight Barcodes altogether which is what I thought you wanted.

You supplier should not be using the same barcodes to his products, otherwise, it will cause confusion as it did with your system.

The only other option is to either ask your supplier to change their codes, or use you own codes to see these items (Rman will allow you to print your own barcodes or part numbers)

but nothing is working. We had no other DeLorme products on our computer. We uninstalled and did another clean install, but with the same results. We will call Support next week. I hope they can tell us how to find the Error Log; we cant find it
