Postby eds » Wed May 05, 2010 5:43 am

Hi All,

A client has encountered this error code after a power blackout..

error code: 2091
c:\Rman\stock.DBF has become corrupted. The table will need to be repaired before using again..
the above is the message that appears once you try to click on the add\modify stock or if you run the file index..

how can this be repaired?

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated

Hi All,

This issue has been addressed, but for the benefit of all, the new versions of Rman (1.90 and above) uses Microsoft Visual Foxpro 8 as its programming platfom, VFP8 has better capabilities of finding errors with data files, hence when a power cut occurs while the program is saving entered data, the increment counter at the file header may not increment as the data is saved, so there will be a mismatch between the actual number of records in the file and what the counter in the file header says, and VFP8 will issue an error mesasge and stop you form saving new data when try to enter new transactions.

We have added a new procedure to fix this problem in the Files Reindexing section, by ticking the affected file and also tick the Pack option then proceed. This new option is in version 1.90.04 which will be out soon.

However, we do highly recommend users to install Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) on their working system (server and stations) to stop file corruptions which can cause prolonged system shutdowns, with the added bonus of extending the life of your system thus saving you money in the long run.

UPS prices start from around US$70
